Hey everyone,
The name’s Krass. I’m new to this platform, but I’m not new to the world of federal employee communities. I thought I’d take a moment to properly introduce myself.
Some of you may know me by another handle from my work on another, very large federal employee forum. For the better part of a decade, I’ve been involved in online community stewardship, culminating in a senior moderation role where I was responsible for the health and engagement of over half a million users. Before my time in community management, I served for ten years in the U.S. Army, an experience that forged my belief in mission-focused, principled leadership.
On my previous platform, I recently led a comprehensive project to revitalize the community. By focusing on transparent moderation, consistent rule enforcement, and fostering a culture of professional respect, we were able to increase substantive user engagement by over 40% while simultaneously reducing toxic behavior by more than 60%. It was a data-proven success that demonstrated a powerful truth: a well-moderated community is a thriving one. Ultimately, a fundamental difference in leadership philosophy led me to seek a new home. My conviction is that moderation should be an act of service, guided by clear principles and procedural justice, not by personal whim. I believe that leadership requires handling internal disagreements privately and always prioritizing the health of the institution over individual convenience.
I’m here now because I believe that feds deserve online spaces that reflect their own values of integrity and service. I’m looking forward to contributing, sharing what I’ve learned about building positive communities, and learning from all of you.
Glad to be here.
Krass
